Melanie did it again, I love these small stories they get right to the point.
Good advice and some Hot sex as only Melanie can write.
This book was gifted to me by the author and so glad it was.
Great addition to Eveiller Drive. My heart went out to Ashley feeling like the step mom with no say in her own home, and again as Ashley discuses never being able to have her own children. It was heart warming hearing how she realized that her own stepmother was not a bad person. Jeff realizing how much Ashley did for them and how bratty his daughter was a priceless moment in the story!! And that he had not been dealing with this issues. I cant wait for the next book in the series!!
Ashley is trying to adjust to being a step mom, but is convinced her step children hate her. Jeff is trying to keep peace between Ashley and his children. Follow their story as they try to juggle their marriage and the kids. They need to come to an agreement to save their marriage.
Ms. James does a great job of writing about true life situations in this series. But don't let that fool you as there are steamy scenes in the books. You will get to know each couple just like they are your neighbors.
Make sure that you visit each couple in this series, you won't regret it.

Our fifth visit to Eveiller drive finds us at the home of Jeff and Ashley where she is trying desperately to understand why her life has become such a struggle. You see, Ashley is the step parent to Jeff's teenage son & daughter. Their attitudes towards her have changed drastically since the wedding. They treat her like she's the hired help, only there to pick up after them, do their laundry, keep them fed, and put up with their smart ass and demeaning remarks. In fact, Emily, flat out said as much to her just this morning. But the hardest thing is that Jeff is just blowing it off, telling her to be patient. That it's an adjustment for them, they will come around. Thank goodness that it's her turn to have the girls over for their weekly group get together, and sure enough a plan of action is formed and it does the trick. They are off to a great start......and, oh yeah, passions are reignited for Ashley and Jeff. Burn Baby Burn!
This is a quick read, but just like the previous visits to the group sessions with the ladies of Eveiller drive, I come away thinking there is a life lesson to be had. This one is for any step parent. I can't think of too many jobs that are harder because it involves body, heart and soul.

This is a short story, the fifth book in the Éveiller Drive series about 6 women from different backgrounds living on Éveiller Drive, not only are they neighbors but they become steadfast friends. They meet together once a week for coffee and to vent about whatever issues they are experiencing in their marriage. Like so many couples now days, they've set their needs aside only to concentrate on their children, jobs, and bills. However, they all have one common problem, how do they bring spice back to their marriage?
This is the story of Ashley and Jeff who have been married a year. Ashley is the stepmom to Jeff's teenage son Tyler 13 and daughter Emily 15. The problem is they treat her like she's the maid, only there to pick up after them, do their laundry, feed them, and put up with their disrespecting attitude towards her. She has repeatedly argued with Jeff about her concerns and he just placates her and avoids the escalating situation. It's Ashley turn to host the weekly breakfast with the girls and she asks for their advice. She decides to take their advice and makes dinner plans with her sister. Ashley texts Jeff that she is going to be home late and they will have to feed themselves and do their own laundry!
When Jeff gets home early from work, he is shocked when he finds Emily on a boys lap having a party in the house. He finally realizes what Ashley has been dealing with this whole time. Jeff steps up to the plate and does what he should have done all along. Ashley arrives home to a clean house and peace and quiet. Jeff tells her what happened and from now on rules are going to be enforced and followed or suffer the consequences. He apologized for avoiding the situation and letting it get so out of hand. Ashley is overjoyed to finally have her husband’s support and that they are finally a united front! They celebrate having the house to themselves with some hot and heavy lovemaking!
I loved this story because it relates to a lot of step parents out there who experienced what Ashley did! Melanie James has a way of writing about characters everyday people can relate to. Well done! Looking forward to finally reading Valerie and Greg’s story!
Being a parent can be hard on any relationship and a step-parent can make it all the more difficult. Ashley and Jeff had let their home get so out of control and needed to learn how to rein it back in. Great story about reconnecting!
This is the 5th book in the series, and I love them all. They are real short reads, but they get right to the point. This is Jeff and Ashley's story. Ashley as feeling a bit stressed. She is having a hard time dealing with Jeff's kids. Jeff doesn't want to believe that there is an issue. You will need to read this book to find out what happens with them.
